Barrio Fiesta Hounslow 2006

Saturday started off with a hot summer breeze, which then had Sunday scorching, those who didn't get a sun tan that day must have not moved from their umbrella posts, shade or slapped on the sun block.

It was a weekend to soak in the Philippines, reunite with old friends, rows of endless food stalls and a glorious day to chill in the park.

The Philippine Centre, who organises this event, can all agree that with over 70,000 people coming to the Fiesta, it is one of the most successful filipino gatherings outside of the Philippines, and is sure to generate a bigger audience next year with a new spring of volunteer hopefuls.

Backstage, the team effort was a strong one, through a weekend of working together, it is evident this experience has made stronger bonds. New friends discovered, networking and VIP treatment is always a plus in my books. Work hard and get fruitful rewards that last a lifetime.

Next year will host an even bigger party, with an ecclectic mix of performances, food to feast an army and a cultural atmosphere that would make a small part of London, feel like a piece of home.

Philippines is a beautiful country and the Barrio Fiesta is a great way to showcase our treasures.
